# Introduction to Reports

Generating accurate financial reports is essential for [Businesses](/getstarted/CoreConcepts#businesses-your-smb-customers) to file taxes, analyze performance, and make informed decisions. Asset’s APIs allow you to construct custom reports using [Journal Entry](/getstarted/CoreConcepts#journal-entry) and [Ledger](/getstarted/CoreConcepts#ledgers) data. However, to streamline report generation and accelerate time to value, Asset provides pre-built endpoints for the following key financial reports:

1. **[Profit and Loss Report](/bookkeeping/reports/profitandloss)** (Income Statement) – Measures Business performance by summarizing revenue, expenses, and net profit over a given period.
2. **[Simplified Cash Flow Report](/bookkeeping/reports/simplecashflow)** – A straightforward summary of cash inflows and outflows, helping Business Owners quickly assess their cash position.
